Kountry Klatter
Kountry Klatter was first celebrated in 1977. It is a two day community wide event that has had different names over the years. Saturday evening a street dance is held. In the 1980'S the Kountry Klatter Kanter which was a 10K foot race was added and in the 1990'S A canoe race was added. The canoe race first launched from Brown's Park South of Abilene with the finish line at the K-43 Bridge. After the flood of 1993 and the damn on the river South of Abilene washed out the start point was moved to the Jeep road bridge on the Smoky Hill River.

Vendors are a feature of the celebration which features both crafts as well as many types of food.

This years celebration will be September 25th & 26th. Entry forms will soon be available on this site.
